Italy in Two Days: Meet the Wines That Will Change How You Order at Dinner

There's a moment every wine lover in Bangkok eventually hits: you're at a restaurant, the list is full of unfamiliar Italian names — Nebbiolo, Aglianico, Vermentino — and you order the same safe Chianti again, just to be sure.

That moment is exactly what the Italian Wine Essentials course was built to fix.

A Two-Day Journey Through 20 Regions and 36 Wines

Italy is, quietly, one of the most fascinating wine countries on earth — not one wine culture, but twenty, each with its own grapes, dialects, and traditions passed down for centuries. Most people only ever taste the handful of names that make it onto restaurant lists. This course opens the rest of the map.

Over two immersive days, guided by Walter Giomi (DipWSET, Italian Wine Scholar, Vinitaly Ambassador), you'll travel — glass in hand — through Northern, Central, and Southern Italy, tasting 36 wines that tell the real story of the country: the mountain whites of Alto Adige, the structured reds of Piemonte, the sun-warmed wines of the South, and everything in between.

You'll leave with a beautifully illustrated 125-page course book, a genuinely sharper palate, and the kind of quiet confidence that lets you scan any Italian wine list and know exactly what you're looking at.

Comprehensive, Not Overwhelming

If you've heard of the Italian Wine Scholar certification — our 8-day, 100+ wine deep-dive with two 100-question exams — you might assume that's the only way to seriously learn Italian wine. It isn't.

Italian Wine Essentials covers the same key regions, grapes, and appellations, distilled into a format built for people with full lives and a genuine love of wine: four 2.5-hour classes, no pressure, no cramming. There's an optional 50-question exam at the end if you'd like a certificate to mark the achievement — but the wine, the stories, and the tasting are the real point.

Think of it as the difference between a proper introduction and a deep friendship. Essentials gives you the introduction that actually sticks.

Who It's For

  • The wine lover who's tired of ordering the same three Italian labels

  • The traveler planning a trip through Tuscany or Piemonte who wants to taste like they mean it

  • The hospitality professional who wants Italy covered without an 8-day commitment

  • Anyone curious whether wine study might be their next passion — this is the perfect low-pressure way to find out
